隠れカルチャーの宝庫、ウェールズ。『英国の中の異国』と呼ばれるこの地で
いちばん“異国らしさ”を感じさせるのが、ウェールズ語です。
アイステッズヴォドは、この独自のケルト系言語で行われる
文学と音楽とパフォーマンスのフェスティバル。
全国大会は毎年8月の第１週に、野外で行われます。

昨年、北ウェールズのレクサムで行われたアイステッズヴォドを取材してきました。
スタッフにインタビューしたり、トークを頼まれたり、ここでしか見られない動画ばかり。
現地の方に「私にとってアイステッズヴォドとは？」という質問にも答えてもらいました。

さらに、当日はウェールズからのライブ特別参加も。
アイステッズヴォドを熱く語るとともに、皆さんからの質問にお答えします。

Wales is often called ‘A foreign land within Britain’, and the most distinctive feature of it is the Welsh language, which is a unique Celtic language. 

The Eisteddfod is a festival conducted entirely in Welsh, and the biggest one takes place outdoors every year during the first week of August. 

Last year, our correspondents covered the Eisteddfod held in Wrexham, North Wales.

They interviewed staff, gave a talk, and captured footage that could only be seen at the Eisteddfod site.

We also asked local people to answer the question: ‘What is the Eisteddfod for you?’

Furthermore, there will be a special guests live from Wales on the day,

who will talk passionately about this unique festival and answer your questions.

A festival that celebrates what makes Wales unique and truly Welsh.
